Paso o paso, step by step, we did it, 500 miles (800 km) walking first in France and continuing on across Spain to come to the completion of the “Camino” at the Cathedral in Santiago. One thing proven was the amazing resilience of the human body and the power of the mind to keep it all together for the time, distance, terrain and weather. Another lesson was that we can function, and quite well with a much minimalist attitude. Living with people from many different countries , with a wide span of age and finances, regardless we all want the same basic things out of life, it gets distorted by governments and greed, biut on the Camino, all the people’s blend into one. Monica was having back problems and foot problems, at one point a man gave her a ointment for her back, a woman gave her pills for pain and another man gave her a pair of socks. On like fashion Monica have her poncho to a young woman with no rain gear, and on and on, everybody only had what they carried in their pack, but were always willing to share. The brotherhood of the Camino, made the experience all the better. The world leaders need to walk the Camino.
