You call this easy! Looking at the map yesterday, it looked like our easiest day yet. It turned out to be the toughest day yet. Shortly after starting we got gale force winds, then came a freezing rain, and the way began to rise up to a rough

Looking at the map yesterday should have been an easy day. It turned out to be a day from Hell. We started off with freezing gale force winds, then the rain came, then it was a long slow climb up a rough stony path, somewhere along the way Monica’s toes began to rebell, you don’t think you can press on through the pain , but there is no option. We had reservations at a Hostal but it was more than 14 kms away, we came to a small village (200 pop.), luckily we got two beds in the municipal Refugio and it was definitely a good decision to stop, as today we continued to where we had made yesterdays reservation and it was a three hour uphill climb again with a freezing cold headwind. We had to stop twice today so that Monica could treat her foot, maybe losing toenail, but marched on to Castrojeriz. Tonight the highlight was we each bought a pair Of gloves, earlier today Monica was wearing her socks on her hands as the temp never got much out of the freezing range. Tomorrow again starts put with a steep climb and the forecast is again for low temps, high winds, and possibility of rain. Are we hang fun?

  2. I think they have only done about 100 miles of the 500 miles, not near half way. Enjoy it, slow down a bit. What’s the rush? Just coming back to work, right? :O)

  3. Every noble work is, at first, impossible.
And you are are doing the impossible! Simply amazing. We are praying with you every step of the way.
