← Monday an easy 12 miles with sunshine and only two large hills to climb over. A hard day is climbing over mountains, an easy day is climbing over large hills. The day ended in Zubiri, that looks like a Company town for the nearby Magmesite plant – very dull. We stayed in a pension (5 private bedrms & 2 shared baths, for 30 euros.) Tues. It was windy and rainy at 8 AM, so we started off in full foul weather gear, by 8:15 it was sunny and blue skies, so we stopped for a costume change. Before starting the map showed 4 villages along the way and we thought Great, we can stop a couple of times, relax enjoy an espresso a couple of times on the route. Right, in a perfect world, but unfortunately the world isn’t perfect, we bypassed two villages and the others offered no services. Because of no services we ran low on water,but found a fountain and purified a liter with our ultra violet light pen. Isn’ technology grand? Three kms, from Pamplona we did a “man on the street interview” asking passer us for el restaurante bien, and a 80 yr old angel in disguise led us several blocks to a restaurant where we had a super Basque dinner. Leaving the restaurant it was again windy and rainy all the wAy into Pamplona. We have decided that the members of the Earth is flat Society have never walked the Camino.
